Extending The Cottage
#1
Possible way of extending the Cottage more significantly:

Demolish the 4-6 houses that face the ground off Stevenage Road and agree to replace them with modern eco friendly houses in the borough.  Move Stevenage back at this point.  Move the facade of the JH stand back to the new building line and build a double cantilever stand behind it.  This would cost about £40m but would increase our capacity to around 40,000 that we could fill in the Premier League if we had a half decent team and good marketing.

Khan could do all this work without breaking FIFA rules.  This may sound crazy but it is feasible if we could get planning permission.

We bought one already but the cost was prohibitive. Those houses are worth more than you might think. Also as the facade is listed it cant be demolished

Listed structures can be moved if rebuilt exactly? Cost would be prohibitive though.

You can't bang on about the club needing the small change from FulhamTV and then blow millions on this sort of thing BP.

I am moving the facade not demolishing it.

I am moving the facade not demolishing it.

Each brick and other element would have to be marked, catalogued (as drawing and storage), dismantled, cleaned of mortar etc. and stored in order and protected.  And then reversed.

However the club could argue to create a faithful facsimile of the facade in new materials. Much cheaper.

I suppose the properties you buy could be converted into club facilities and the stevenage road reduced to a pedestrian thoroughfare so not totally wasted.

FFS, not this sodding NONSENSE again ! May I ask, does 'BP' stand for Brainless Pillock ??? You need your marbles testing, pal.

There has been TOO MUCH football heritage destroyed in this country over the last 30 years, just LEAVE the beautiful unique areas which make the ground so special (and genuinely appreciated by supporters of other clubs as well as our own) alone.

There is so little of the influential early 20th-C football stadium architect/engineer Archibald Leitch's work left in Britain. What's left of his 1930's built East Stand at Tottenham is currently coming down, as is the old stand at Hearts. Everton are seriously looking at leaving Goodison Park, so that's another two stands on borrowed time.

Sod about with the Riverside and maybe the two ends, but DON'T even contemplate tampering with perfection.

I want to find a way for us to become the Man U of the South for real before I die under the weight of small minded pricks.

The Man Utd of the South ?. Who, in their right mind would want to aspire to that ?

Go & support Chelsea if you want to follow a Southern version of Manchester United.

The cost of that sort of modification to Craven Cottage is just too expensive, when you compare it to the cost of a brand new 30,000 seat stadium on a brown or green field site.  That is why we never redevelo[ed Craven Cottage.  Costs for the previous redevelopment were at £60million when Southampton had just built a brand new stadium for circa £30million.

The trouble is that there just aren't a lot of brown or green field sites around in LBH&F and the land value is prohibitive.  MAF lost a sealed bid auction on land at White City and that was that...

I think we are stuck with small tweaks such as the Riverside stand development or reloacting outside of LBH&F
